Our Story
Memorial Capital started in 2015 when two good friends (Matt Bell & Bryan Johnston) who met playing church league softball decided to start investing in real estate together. After buying, rehabbing, renting, and selling over 150+ homes, these friends expanded their business into RV & boat storage with the help of a seasoned mentor who owned six such facilities. In 2021, the team brought on a third friend (Matt Norwood) with commercial construction experience to help build a sustainable business that engages in commercial real estate acquisition, development, and design consultation while still flipping houses from time to time. They seek to provide a good reliable return for their families and investors while using their talents to glorify God in all they do.
Investment Strategy
Memorial Capital generally invests using one of the three strategies below
Value Add Acquisition
For existing properties (primarily RV & boat storage), we buy properties where we can add value through site improvements, adding amenities, adding automation, or bringing rents up to market rates over time. If we can add value and increase income and overall asset value, we are interested in those deals.
Buy the Dirt & Build
We don't mind getting our hands dirty. If we can get the dirt for the right price, we are also interested in ground up commercial construction projects primarily in the storage, warehouse, or vacation rental space. These may be funded directly by Memorial Capital or through syndication to our pool of investors.
Joint Development with Landowner
Landowner provides the land to the partnership. We provide the development expertise, funding, and project management to bring the project from idea to reality and produce a better return for the landowner than they would get just selling us the dirt. If you have land, let us help you develop it.

Matt Bell
Matt is a globally recognized international trade lawyer. He previously served in senior leadership roles for major multinational companies. He is passionate about real estate and owns a portfolio of rental properties, provides hard money loans to other investors, and has numerous syndicated investments in various sectors. He is also an angel/pre-seed investor in 10+ startups. For Memorial Capital he focuses on acquisitions, project structuring & legal support.

Bryan Johnston
Bryan left a successful career as one of the leading commercial bankers in Houston to serve as the President & COO of Countless Ventures. He loves to create models for real estate investments and developments. He enjoys the challenge of creatively structuring deals to make them profitable for all involved. For Memorial Capital, he focuses on financial analysis, fundraising, and building relationships with key stakeholders.
Partner
Matt Norwood
Matt started his career in commercial construction management for Whiting Turner before leaving to become a firefighter and spend more time with his family. When Memorial Capital began to scale, he left firefighting to come lead the operations of Capital RV & Boat Storage and serve as a Partner for Memorial Capital. He works closely with engineers and oversees construction projects while also consulting on project design for other investors as needed.
